Make sure your puppy grows up into a well-rounded individual

Ended (Ended on 31st Mar 2016)

Did you know that puppies have a critical learning period before 12 weeks old?

During that first 12 weeks they will accept new experiences without fear which prevents a lot of problems that owners of unsocialised puppies experience. Poorly socialised puppies can be aggressive to other dogs or fearful and yappy.

Puppies that are well socialised as youngsters become more sociable adult dogs who are easier to walk amongst other dogs and are genera... Read More

Puppy and Kitten offer (plus vaccine offer for adult dogs and cats).

Ended (Ended on 29th Feb 2016)

Have you recently got a new puppy or kitten or are you getting one soon? Churchcroft Vets have a great offer for you.

How the offer works

Vaccines are vital to prevent fatal diseases in dogs and cats. The initial protection needs 2 injections given a few weeks apart. Usually, since this involves twice the amount of vaccine, this is more expensive than a top-up vaccination. However, as a new year special offer the team here at Churchcroft Vets ... Read More

What Our Customers Are Saying About Us...

November 2015

The Waltons

To George and all the staff at Churchcroft

We would like to say a huge thank you for everything you did for Ron. He was the loveliest Guinea pig and without your care, concern and expertise in everything you did for him, we wouldn't have been able to enjoy his company for as long as we did. We will never be able to thank you enough.

The Waltons

Love from Cody

To George, Jon and Julia

Thank you all so much for looking after me this week and letting my family see me on the webcam. I hope you can get some sleep now George.

Love from Cody

Sue, Guy, Bill and Ben.

We just wanted to say a very big thank you to you all for the care and attention you gave our boys (and we know it was a lot!!) over the last few months.

As you can see they are happy to be back together and it is lovely to see them chasing each other round again and climbing everything in sight.

Sue, Guy, Bill and Ben.

Mr and Mrs Dunn

We’d recommend Churchcroft Vets to everyone. They provide a friendly professional service with a local family feel, that you just don’t get in bigger practices. They really care about your pet’s welfare and understand how difficult it can be when pets are ill. When my mum’s dog became ill, whilst visiting us, they saw her straight away and did all they could to help her get better. They were absolutely lovely with my mum and her dog, Dora. We couldn’t have asked for more.

October 2015

Paul Genders (Misty)

The care Misty receives from George is second to none, sometimes I think he is treating his own cat. George is a fantastic vet and always explains everything so clearly that even I understand. Everyone at Churchcroft Vets have contributed to Misty enjoying her old age and I would not take her to any other vet.

Misty is the 2nd of my 2 cats (Fudge being the other) and like Fudge she is 17 years old. She was diagnosed by George in early 2014 with stomach cancer and after consultation he suggested a course of chemotherapy.

Misty has Chemotherapy tablets every 4 weeks and also a blood test, and if you didn’t know she had cancer you could never tell. She is still, at 18, a very active cat and is completely enjoying her old age.

Thank you George and your team for looking after my Misty.

Paul Genders (Misty)

September 2015

Alan and I thank you all for your thoughtfulness and consideration over the years.

Barney has left a big hole in our lives that will be hard to fill.

Hilary and Alan Saxton

So grateful for the loving care you gave to Mr Rocky.

Simply the best vets around.

Never forgotten.

Pat and Martin Galoway

Just a card to say thank you for the way you looked after and cared for our much loved cat Jasmine.

It was very hard to see her go but we know we could not have had better help and support.

Maurice, Catherine and Molly Smith

I just wanted to thank you and your team for everything. You’ve been amazing and have given the best care and support that both Pippa and I could have hoped for.

Pippa hated the vets in Essex but not once did she shake coming to visit you.

In fact you got tail wags!!

I cannot thank you enough for everything you did for her.

You’re a Vet in a million!!

Jacqui

We would like to thank you all for your support in providing for for Bonny’s health needs over the last few years.

Many thanks to Alison for displaying so many paintings of the dogs and cats that we know so well and to everyone who came to collect their oil paintings. We had fun and hope you did too.

Flash, bang, crash, whimper..... help dogs and cats deal with fireworks.

There are a number of ways to help your pet:
seek professional help, call Churchcroft Vets for free advice on 0115 922 4855. We have some really good medications that are very effective and a new gel to rub on their gums.

Find out when your local fireworks displays are on so that you can prepare:
Make sure cats are secure indoors well in advance of the fireworks.
A good long dog walk earlier in the day so that they are tired.
Provide a safe hiding place for dogs and cats, a crate, or even behind the sofa can be good.
Place your worn jumper or T' shirt in the crate to reassure of your presence.
Close the curtains and put some music or the TV on to help distract from the flashes and loud bangs.
Provide a long lasting chew, such as a frozen stuffed Kong to give another focus.
Pheromone or herb based plug in products can be helpful, we can discuss these with you.

Avoid over comforting as this increases anxiety.

Look after your little pumpkin over the fireworks season.

The flashes and bangs of fireworks can cause a real fear for many dogs and cats. Please don't let them suffer. There are some really good medicines available including a new, very effective gel to rub on their gums.

This is what Mr Lucas (Yasmin, the dog pictured) has to say. "I'm so glad we went to Churchcroft Vets to help Yasmin with her fear of fireworks, the medication has made all the difference to her and to us".

I'm sure the majority of us are aware of this but it's well worth sharing. It's a basic courtesy that is important for many and varied reasons for a lot of dogs. These dogs deserve a little space and respect for their needs.

Please share and call us with any information. It's always worth checking garages and sheds. Let's find him and get him home.

5 Star: Tina E. "As a former pet owner and client of Churchcroft Veterinary Centre I attended the Open Day on Saturday 17th June and was hugely impressed with both the changes to the design of the building and the state-of-the-art equipment used for diagnosis and treatment of animals brought to the Centre. It was great to see the attention to pets' comfort such as the padding on the X-ray table and the increased space in the waiting area, including the garden outside. George and his team have always prided themselves on high quality care and I have no doubt this will continue to be achieved at the highest level using the new facilities. Pet owners who want the very best for their animals should have no hesitation in taking them to Churchcroft Veterinary Centre where they will receive first class treatment."
